U of M’s former Lacrosse Coach Conducts Clinic In Royal Oak

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” This fits the members of Bears Lacrosse to a “T”. It was an honor and fun to oversee the camp which included participants from Royal Oak, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge and Ferndale, which are all cities wherein I conduct my residential real estate brokerage business. When it comes time to selling and/or buying a home give me a call.

On August 22/23 the Woodward Bears, which Paul Banicki organized and oversees, held a summer camp exclusively for the middle school students that participated in the summer season of 2020. The students included participants from Royal Oak, Berkeley, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge and Ferndale.  Realtor Paul Banicki recruited John Paul, former Head Coach at University of Michigan and the Atlas Bulls Coach of the inaugural season for the Premier Lacrosse League, to oversee the camp. One of the things that hooked Paul on the sport was the willingness and dedication of so many lacrosse standouts who are still giving back to the sport they love.

One of them is John Paul. As the Bulls coach, Paul mentored lacrosse great Paul Rabil and others. Prior to coaching the Bulls John Paul lead the University of Michigan to over 10 undefeated seasons as the head coach where they won MCLA Championships. He was instrumental in transitioning Michigan into a Division 1 program, where he continued as there coach for three more years. Thank you Coach Paul for giving up your free time.  It was extremely generous of you. The participants had a great time.

Paul served as president of the MCLA from 2002-09 and is a former member of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors (2002-05). He also served on the Executive Board of the US Lacrosse Coaches Council and on the Board of the Michigan Chapter of US LacrossePaul was drafted in 1989 by the Detroit Turbos of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League. John Paul was the head coach at Michigan for 20 years. Beyond his great successes on the field, he is largely credited with leading the Wolverines through the process of becoming an official NCAA Division I program in 2012. Below are some images of the players getting hands on instructions from a pro, John Paul.
